Visualize Your Goals

Greatness Plant

Donít kid yourself, goal setting is work!  However, without the struggle, of solid goal setting, you wonít develop the resolve necessary to follow through and overcome the hurdles necessary to achieve your objectives.  Just as the old adage states:  No pain, no gain.

One of the first things we do in the executive coaching process is to help our clients identify goals and prioritize them as part of their executive coaching program.  This gives them a track to run on for which they are held accountable.  We then offer encouragement and support to help them stay on track.

There are 3 critical components to goal setting to help achieve lasting results:

1.    Commit them to paper.

2.    Work toward progress, not perfection.

3.    Develop a strong support system to help you with reinforcement.

Do you need some extra motivation to start, foster, and finally achieve your goals? In order to positively visualize certain goals, it may help to parallel the journey towards them by literally planting a seed and then watching it grow as a daily affirmation of your goals. Pick four or five goals for the future and watch as your plants grow. Encourage yourself to work through current problems and help make better choices for future goals.

Plant TerrariumHere's a cool item from Brain Toys.  It's an inexpensive, easily grown and maintained terrarium for your office space or home: Plant Your Seeds of Greatness!  It will not only brighten your environment but also be a reminder of your efforts. Additionally, the San Marcos Nature Center in Texas reports that green plants increase job satisfaction: "...employees with either live plants in their offices, or windows overlooking green spaces, felt greater job satisfaction and reported higher overall quality of life."  So what are you waiting for?  Go green and follow your dream!
